Youngs Siding Bushfire Brigade

The Youngs Bushfire Brigade is a group of local volunteers who manage local fire prevention and fighting activities with the support of the City of Albany, FESA and other volunteer brigades. New members are always welcome.
Living in a rural environment means there is a constant threat of fire and the Youngs Bushfire Brigade is happy to help residents with fire prevention strategies such as controlled burns and any other advice. Please contact the FCO or Deputy FCO if you require any help.

Residents can help themselves by ensuring there is a buffer zone of at least 30 metres around their house and by ensuring leaves and debris are cleared from gutters before the fire season. It is also important that fire bans and fire permit periods are complied with - current dates are available on the main page.

The Youngs Bushfire Brigade meets monthly in the fire season. All residents are welcome to attend. It provides an opportunity to meet the people who will assist you in the event of a fire. We are also happy to teach residents how to use fire fighting equipment.

Copies of the fire brigade membership application and update details forms (Microsoft Word) can be downloaded here.

Fire restrictions

We try to provide current information on the home page, but they may be changed without prior notice by the City of Albany in response to drier than average conditions or for other reasons.

Permits to light fires in restricted periods can be obtained by contacting the FCO or deputy FCO.
